Exploring Soil Particle Size Fraction and Spatial Redistribution of 137Cs in Sloping Landscapes with Different Lynchet Heights of Terracing Hedgerows in the Remote Mountain Region of Southwestern China

Soil erosion is a global environmental problem related to anthropogenic activities which are influenced by natural factors. The sloping cultivated lands, with serious soil erosion, constitute significant proportion of the landscape in remote mountain regions southwestern China. traditional conservation strategy, involving certain height lynchets on edge terracing hedgerows plays an effective part and water conservation. A typical lynchet was chosen this study. objective study explore particle size fraction spatial redistribution 137Cs landscapes different heights hedgerows. results showed that fine-grained sediments were deposited front hedgerows, especially sizes grouped at <0.002 mm clay 0.002–0.02 silt. concentration profiles from upper lower first increasing then decreasing trends when depth increased. inventory generally increased along whole landscapes. Moreover, suggested mean rate could be represented average value middle slope position. highest annual modulus reached 4917.06 t km−2 a−1 site lands. synchronously reduced had similar trend.
